Fashion Discrimination...

Have you ever....

Let me give you the scenario that I have encountered:

Scenario 1: Have you ever gone shopping at some high-end fashion boutique or clothing store in your plain Jane clothing? maybe a sweatshirt, jeans or basically very comfortable in your mind. And as soon as you step foot in the door you get these glares like why would someone like yourself be shopping in that store. Maybe because it looks as if I have no money or can’t afford the clothing in the store. As you walk around no one bothers to help you, or they look at you as if you want to take the clothing. How annoying is that, have any of you experienced this while shopping? This form of stereotyping because you just aren’t dressed to their standards or caliber.

Although on the other hand I have been in situations when I am dressed to the tee with my true religion jeans, top, Stuart Weitzman shoes and my Louis purse. Go into a store and have people basically bowing to service me. Or even people running to get to me first because of how I am dressed, they believe I am going to purchase just enough to pay their salary for the day from commission. I just can’t stand how stereotypical people can be just because of how you dress or look. Have any of you ever experienced this?

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2008

Derek Lam

Critics love Kor and Lam, not so sure about Lim!

The reviews are rolling in. While Michael Kors is receiving praise and kudos, Diane von Furstenburg is blowing peoples mind. Derek Lam, industry darling. Where does that leave Phillip Lim, with lots of mixed reactions.

Marc Jacob Darlings!

The Sway of Purple...
From left, Ralph Lauren, Narciso Rodriguez, Michael Kors.

Throw away those dull colors and make sure your ready for Spring 2008. Pretty pastels, bright neons and now purple are rocking the palette, and even the runway. Yeah you heard it, purple. I would have never thought that my favorite color of all time would make such an impact. An impact where designers such as Ralph Lauren, Narciso Rodriguez and Michael Kors made signature designs. Narciso Rodriguez's neutral mini frock made an impact but Ralph Lauren took it to another level with his formal royal like, strapless, shiny plum gown. But we can't forget Michael Kors who took his full length design and added a signature elongated cardigan.

Do I hear Spring Fever?
From left: Diane Von Furstenberg, Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors.

Do you have Spring fever? These models do. Strutting their stuff in designer duds,
these models work the runway in springs hotest fashion. Barely there full length gowns are definitely a fashion do. My favorite fashion trend of all time that will never go out in my book is head scarfs. Whether its designer or home made, scarfs are definite do's. Lastley if you havent gotten the bulletin those heavy shoulder bags are out and totes are in.
Hilton Hits Fashion Week

Sunday night Nicky Hilton presented her line Nicholai at Bryant Park to an excited audience that included Russel Simmons, Bijou Phillips, Olivia Palermo, Richie Rich, and Traver Rains of Heatherette just to name a few. Nicholai, her higher-end line (which follows her casualwear line Chick by Nicky Hilton, a long-term handbag collaboration with Samantha Thavasa. Nicky decided to collaberate with Amir Slama of Rosa Cha on some of her chic bikini looks. Not only that, she had some of the most graceful models walking the catwalk, many were friends of Nicky. Wow who would have thought the sister of Paris Hilton a fashion expert of her own would create her own fashion line.
What do you think so far?
Do's and donts of Fall Fashion!

No~
This is definitely not trendy for the summer.
Cowboy boots, trench coats, and the overly oversized
bags are definitely not in. Take a peak at the fall trends!

Yes~
Ok, mary janes seem to never go out of style.
So, if you want a trend that will never go out of style,
you'll never go wrong with a cute flat mary jane.

Definitely Yes~
Here are the basic tips of fall
fashion. Even if you are not fashion savy these
basic ideas will never go wrong. The wide leg pant,
figure flattering trench, anklet boot, and bold clutch
are just a few of falls fashion tips that will get you
in the mix.

10 Commandments of Style for Men

GQ has listed the few yet hard-and-fast rules for dressing well. Master these and you will possess the building blocks of great taste. Now all the men out there, if you want to impress the ladies...at least the ones who breath and live fashion you must get these 10 Commandments down. Now I understand there are college men who can't yet afford some of these extravagent luxurious items. It's not about the price of the items you purchase its the quality of thought and attempting, perhaps with bargain shopping.

My personal favorite commandment is:

# 4. Thou shalt match your socks with your suit

Too many times do I see men wearing the so called "only socks i had clean in my closet." This is a definite "no, no", if you are wearing an all black suit with a button up white t-shirt...please do not wear light blue or brown socks with this combination. Pair it up with black socks perhaps.

Nude Shades...In or Out!

It's time to throw out those nude, barely there shades and barbie doll pinks for Fall makeup artists number one choice. You may think its a little too bold, dramatic or out there for you but makeup artists are abandoning the nudes for more vibrant shades. Offset earthy brown shadows with juicy red lips. Layer cherry-red gloss over a coat of lipstick for shine.

Personally, I think it is a extraordinary idea. If you want to stand out from the bunch in a good trendy way...go with the more vibrant shades.
